Corporate History

We, at Tomiyama Pure Chemical Industries has been meeting the demand of the market based on manufacturing of "High-purity chemicals" and synthesis/purification/analytics technologies build since the establishment in 1946 for more than half a century as a manufacturer of Reagent for Ammonium salts.

Today, we have gained trust of not only domestic, but also of a wide range of overseas users in the areas of chemicals for electrolytic capacitors "CAPASTE™" "CAPLYTE™", chemicals for solid electrolytic capacitors "SOLICOND™", chemicals for functional capacitors "FUNCHEM™", organic electrolyte for Lithium batteries "LIPASTE™", chemicals for optronics related glass base material and optronics & other high-purity chemicals, and also as reagent manufacturer.

Corporate History

1946 Tomiyama High-purity Chemicals Trading Co., Ltd. was established by the founder Matasaburo Tomiyama
1947 Fixed company name as Tomiyama Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.
1952 Started commercial production of high-purity chemicals for aluminum electrolytic capacitors
1962 Constructed Shiki Plant at Fujimi-shi, Saitama Prefecture (Currently known as P&D Center)
1966 Constructed Japan's first mass-production plant for "refined boric acid." in Shiki Plant
1968 Received a quality conformance certificate as a supplier for "high-purity boric acid" for PWRs and BWRs (nuclear reactors) designed by WH and GE of the USA. Became the only supplier in Japan
1979
  • Started the study of "LIPASTE™" an electrolyte for lithium batteries.
  • Started mass-production for high-purity chemicals for glass fiber for optical communication
  • Set up P&D Building in Shiki-Plant
1981
  • Started commercial production of" BOROPOWDER™" "BOROGLASS™" a Boron trioxide for manufacturing compound semiconductors
1982 Started commercial production of "LIPASTE™" an electrolyte for lithium batteries
1985 Constructed Okuma Plant at Okuma-cho, Fukushima Prefecture
1988 Pharmaceutical production was authorized at Okuma Plant. Started commercial production of "pharmacopoeia boric acid" (Okuma Plant)

  • Set up new Production line for high purity chemicals for glass base-material in Shiki Plant
  • Started commercial production of high-purity chemicals for tantalum electrolytic capacitors (Okuma Plant)
1990 Set up production line for high purity chemicals for glass base-material for mass production (Okuma Plant)
1992 Constructed manufacturing plant for electrolyte for lithium batteries (Okuma Plant). Increased production lines. Started commercial production
1994 Constructed an automated plant for organic electrolyte for aluminum electrolytic capacitors (Okuma Plant)
1996 Improved automated production lines for electrolyte for lithium batteries to increase capacity
1997 Set up an automatic multiple plant (Okuma Plant)
1999 Pharmaceutical production was authorized at Shiki plant. Started commercial production of "pharmacopoeia sodium tetraborate"
Obtained a certificate of compliance with the ISO 9002 (head office and Okuma Plant).(Authorized by JCQA)
2000 Obtained a certificate of compliance with the ISO 9001 in August (for entire company).(Authorized by JCQA)

  • Shut down Okuma Plant due to the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant accident
